Odd Going Ons Upstairs
Former Pride Of Manchester Award-winning 'Best Bar in Manchester' Odd celebrates 6 years of being in the Northern Quarter with the opening of their new upstairs bar.
Musician Gideon Conn performed at the opening of the new floor on the 29th July. which caters for a further 60 drinkers (40% more than at present) and extends the kitchen.

Elbow Robinsons Beer
Drinker's Elbow
Multi-platinum selling Bury band Elbow are launching a brand new beer in support of their new album 'Build A Rocket Boys'. Brewed by local family brewers Robinsons of Stockport to Elbow's own specifications, after a series of beer tastings at the brewery, the golden ale is said to have a rich rounded body, smooth bitterness, subtle tang of malt and fruity aroma. It will be available across selected Robinsons pubs throughout September and October as well as the Food & Drink Festival and Freshers' Week at North West universities.

The Trafford Circle
Manchester's exclusive 24-hour private member's club, The Circle Club, has expanded with its July 14th opening of the 45-seat "Circle 360" in The Orient food court inside the Trafford Centre, on July 14th.
The centrepiece of the Champagne and cocktail bar is the stunning, heart shaped white marble bar, serving an extensive 50-strong cocktail menu (from just £4.50) and 21 Champagnes (only £40 for bottles of Moet or £4.95 a flute).

Jacksons Retro Bar Manchester
Shake Your Body Down To Jacksons
The hidden away canalside gem that was Jacksons 1836 in the Piccadilly Basin area of the Northern Quarter has re-opened as Jacksons Retro Bar on 1st July.
The fun and funky gay-friendly bar, just a short walk to Canal Street, offers more than a nod to the 1960s and 70s with it's funk and disco music.

As reported earlier this month, Iguana Bar in Chorlton will close on Saturday 30th July after 12 years of trading. Interestingly though, the plans are for it to reopen in three months time following a refurbishment, with the owner not having to pay the "crippling" business rates in the meantime. ~ 25th Jul


Following the council's rejection of the planned 2,000 capacity late night live music venue in the basement of Quay House on Quay Street, Trof have offered to reduced the capacity to 1,500. In an attempt to obviously win the councillors' approval, they also boldly claim to attract the likes of the MTV Europe Video Awards and NME Awards away from London, as well as hold exhibitions and roller-skating derbies. ~ 21st July

The Hogshead on Deansgate has closed and will be rebranded as The Lost Dene on 21st July. ~ 19th Jul


The Warehouse Project leaves its home for the past five years on Store Street, underneath Piccadilly Station, after the 2012 New Year's Day party. It's not yet known what, if anything, will happen after that. ~ 14th Jul


The empty Orlando's bar in Chorlton is set to make way for an all-you-can-eat Mexican diner. ~ 14th Jul


The Sir Ralph Abercrombie on Bootle Street has re-opened following its closure 6 months ago after George Archondo, the former landlord of The Circus Tavern, got bored of retirement. ~ 7th Jul


Iguana Bar in Chorlton could be set to close after 12 years of trading with its owner complaining that they are struggling to meet the £7,200 annual increase in business rates. ~ 6th Jul


Manchester-based drinks wholesaler Same Day Beers, who supply many of the regions pubs, bars and nightclubs, have relocated their head office to Bredbury, Stockport. ~ 6th Jul


Malmaison are set to replace their bar with with the upmarket Ember Lounge cocktail bar on July 25th. It will complement their planned upmarket New England-style 'Smoak' steakhouse. ~ 5th Jul


Pub giants JD Wetherspoon are to open three more pubs in the Manchester region with The Gateway, a £1m pub on Wilmslow Road in East Didsbury, the £1.2m Commercial Hotel on Church Street in Accrington, and The White Hart on Station Approach in Todmorden. Wetherspoon now own 822 pubs in the UK. ~ 4th Jul


Following a £1.5m refurbishment, the owners of the Felicini restaurant group will reopen The Smithy pub in Cheadle Hulme on July 22nd as The Pointing Dog gastro pub. ~ 4th Jul
