  Odder Manchester ~ our review
  A True Mancunian Oddersy

Drinks "After some serious partying in 2011, the ManchesterBars.com team decided to undergo a two month teetotal detox in 2012. Within a minute of entering Odder on Oxford Road, half the team had already succumbed to the devil's favourite drink. The fact is, the choice is that great (and cheap), it's hard not to sample a bottle of some exotic tipple or another. Whether it be a bottle of Danish Carlsberg for just £1.50 (yes, that is the correct price!), a pint of Becks Vier at just £3,30 or one of the regional guest ales at £3.20, it's hard to think of a cheaper quality bar in town. The emphasis is on the word 'quality' here too as the ales seem to be well looked after and the choice of bottles takes you on a tour from Europe to South America (Cusquena and Brahma) and Asia (Lao and Asahi).

On our first visit of the night, beautiful girls seemed to outnumber guys by around 4:1 and wine looked to be the tipple of choice. Bottles start at just £12.50 for the Italian Moncaro Bianco or Rosso and, with 18 bins to choose from, will cost you no more than £18.50 (Witts End Australian Shiraz). Bottles of Mumm Champagne are only £45,

There is a huge choice of liquors at incredible prices. [menu here]

Service Whilst there is so much choice of draught ales available, it's hard to see the bar staff over the beer pumps, service was very friendly and efficient on both our visits. In typical Odd fashion, a tip jar had the quirky invite "Tippers make better lovers" and they deserved it. Whilst it was a busy Friday evening, there was no annoying queuing and they engaged with each customer.

Atmosphere Like Odd, the atmosphere at Odder is incredibly inviting with a real mixed bag of customers - from bearded arty types to older, smarter dressed theatre goers, good looking girls catching up over a glass of wine or groups of students taking advantage of the cheap drinks offers. On our first visit, the music included Fleetwood Mac's instrumental 'Albatross' and American chillwave musician, Washed Out, whilst the DJ on our later return mixed everything from the Average White Band, Frankie Valli and the Jackson 5 to Luniz, Mary J Blige and Eve.

Toilets Like many bars in this area of town, the toilets really let Odder down. They've barely been upgraded since it opened 5 years ago.

Decor Bohemian and kitsch in every way, Odder is decorated with a collection of mirrors, clocks and buffallo heads amongst an awful lot of random clutter that you certainly wouldn't find in any other bar in town. Downstairs, there's a display of artwork, available to buy and changed monthly, whilst upstairs there's huge butterflies and wooden chameleons alongside a DJ deck, large projector screen and another very well stocked bar.

Toilets You can understand why Odder scores so highly with members in the ManchesterBars.com Top 10 Best Bars in town list (here). Other than being a swanky cocktail bar, it ticks every box - alongside live music, they now even show NYE. The only downside we can think of is the toilets, which haven't been touched since this place was ZanziBar. The music playlist is as diverse as the ornaments that decorate the two floors and this can also be said about the clientelle. You'll find all walks of life enjoying themselves thoroughly. The drinks list features an incredible selection of beers, vodkas, gins, rums and whiskys. It really is hard to think of many better bars than Odder!

Neil is disappointed that the copy of Playboy only contained a menu at Odder
