“This is the violet hour, the hour of hush and wonder, when affections glow and valor is reborn.” - The Hour, Bernard DeVoto, 1951. |
The Violet Hour, is a cocktail bar and eaterie on Burton Road in the heart of picturesque West Didsbury. The bar sits on the site of the old Hibbert’s butcher shop which had lay derelict for 18 years. After falling in love with the building and a 3-month building project the building has been transformed it into a drinking den for the charming people of West Didsbury and beyond! |
The intimate layout of the bar with its exposed brick work and wooden furniture really does make it a home away from home; with chesterfield sofas perfect for relaxing with a book and a whiskey in the afternoon. With the extensive back bar and ever changing specials board you’d be hard pressed to find something that doesn’t take your fancy. Experienced bartenders can make classic cocktails as well as The Violet Hour’s unique signature serves. |
In addition to the cocktails The Violet Hour serves a range of boutique beers, wine and champagne, as well as draught lager, stout and cider. |
