Sometimes described as the Student Quarter, the Oxford Road area is a popular drinking area focused around the 2 mile long road that runs from St Peter's Square in the city centre all the way down past the Universities to the Curry Mile in Rusholme.
With the University of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan Univeristy, Royal Northern College of Music and Northern Ballet School campuses all on and around Oxford Road, the area is popular with students for obvious reasons and there are plenty of bars to keep them occupied.
Concert goers also flock to Oxford Road and there's plenty of bars and pubs near the Palace Theatre, Bridgewater Hall, HOME, O2 Ritz, Gorilla, Sound Control, Dancehouse Theatre, Deaf Institute, RNCM, Manchester Academy and Contact Theatre, all of which are located in the area.
Oxford Road train station, Manchester Royal Infirmary, Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, Manchester Dental Hospital, St. Mary's Hospital and the Manchester Aquatic Centre are also on Oxford Road, with plenty of bars nearby. |
