As the Eagles sang... " You can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave".
Inspired by a love for music, food, drinks and Latin culture, Sandinista Manchester carries on the momentum of its sister bar in Leeds with the two-floored bar opening just off St Annes Square in March 2011. Music is Sandinista's passion and Joe Strummer is at their heart
Inspired and named after The Clash's fourth album, Sandinista play an eclectic mix that covers rock, indie, funk, soul, reggae, 80's and more until 3am, 7 days a week.
Sandinista's revolutionary theme is influenced by the political movement in Nicaragua and the Central American flavour is carried throughout the Latin inspired food and drink menu as well as the décor. The food menu focuses on Spanish Tapas.

Being a bunch of squirrel saving do gooders, Sandinista like to take a stance on things that mean a lot to them. They strongly disagree with the US' treatment and isolation of Cuba and support Britain's opposition to the trade blockade the US holds over Cuba. In their support of this they promote the entire Havana Club and Matusalem ranges as the true rum products of Cuba.
Whilst supporting Cuba in its fight to stand alone as a country in its own right, they also support them in their fight against companies that take advantage of the US trade embargo. With that in mind, they do not stock any Bacardi owned products including Jack Daniels, Bombay Sapphire, Woodford Reserve, the Martini range and Southern Comfort.
Sandinista also support Amnesty International and the Nicaragua Solidarity Campaign, stocking Fairtrade teas and granulated coffee as well as Fairtrade brown and white sugar. They also refuse to sell any products from countries that refuse to ban whaling (Japan, Norway & Iceland)... grrrr, bad people!
Sandanista Manchester
Thatcher apparently wanted to ban the word Sandinista in 1980, instigating the Clash's choice of album title... and anything that gets up her nose is good enough for us.
Sandinista's impressively stocked bar offers an excellent range of cocktails from the four corners of the globe, an array of quality tequilas, rums and spirits with a fine selection of beers. Bacardi is never an option... join the Havana Club. Coca Cola is banned... for its invidious practices.
The rebels have joined the mix and the rum collection has grown... and grown... as have the hangovers...
There's so many faces to Sandinista! It has more aliases than Howard Marks and more lives than Keith Richards. Sandinista live with the maxim ‘nuestra casa es tu casa' - 'our home is your home' Compadres new and old are welcome!

Sandinista Bar Reviews
""Any bar that's named after a Clash album and a word Margaret Thatcher tried to ban gets our vote.
"It's fair to say that the Iron Lady wasn't liked in Manchester but it's probably as safe to suggest that Sandinista will appeal to most Mancunian drinkers.
"With an emphasis on classic rock music - played extremely loudly until 3am every night - and very fine cocktails, all made with a strict ethical stance, it should only be a matter of time before this Leeds export goes from being a hidden away back street bar to one of the busiest venues in town." ~ ManchesterBars.com (Apr 2011)
