Cocktail lovers from across the region gathered at the much awaited launch of The Violet Hour’s new cocktail menu on Thursday 27 th February 2014. The Violet Hour on Burton Road in West Didsbury, launched their new cocktail menu with a dazzling VIP party.
The new menu; created in conjunction with Manchester-based Susie Wong's expertise in bartending and cocktails, coupled with a background in fashion and art, delivers delicious and cutting-edge creations. Offerings include, Ruby Woo, an blend of Finlandia Vodka, Blossoms sour cherry syrup, aloe vera, lemon juice, rose water and cherry pop garnish; Tony’s Tipple , a playful cocktail with Appleton 12yr Rum, mixed with crème de banana, Frosties-rinsed milk and served in a milk bottle; and Gentleman’s Geisha, an exotic blend of Evan Williams extra aged bourbon, plum sake, pear, Boker’s bitters and a pear fan.
Owner Dan Pollard stated: “Susie has spent many hours planning it and we have spent days in vintage fairs & markets looking for the right glassware in which to show off the drinks. At The Violet Hour our aim is to create an overall experience, incorporating an excellent cocktail list with an interesting food menu and contemporary music to cater for all tastes."
Bosses of the recently closed circle club in Manchester City Centre are looking open a second venue in the Trafford Centre. After the success of Circle 360 champagne bar in the food court at Trafford and at 4 other shopping centres in the UK, they are hoping plans will be approved by Trafford Council which will allow the opening of a second bar close to John Lewis. If plans are approved the bar is expected to open in April.
The Norther Quarter has been graced with another bar in LS:NQ, or Last Stop Northern Quarter. The bar will also serve BBQ, in an opening which adds to the city's already thriving American BBQ trend. LS:NQ is open on Hilton Street, right next to Lammars. ~ 03 Aprr 2014

Northern Quarter favourite Kosmonaut have release the name of their second, soon to be launched venture. Ply will open in Stevenson Square this Summer, in what will be a a change in theme to the original concept. After a successful sunny summer venue as InBloom and a cosy hideaway in winter, Hibernate is set to reinvent itself, this time into the Lawn Club, during spring. The current Spinningfields bar will be extended and redesigned to include a retractable roof, day beds and open fires to combine the best bits of both InBloom and Hibernate. Brewdog the independent Scottish brewer has teamed up with London based Honest Burger to create the limited edition BrewBurger. The BrewBurger which is the first burger to be given an ABV is made up of an aged beef patty, comte cheese, bacon candied with 5am Saint, beef dripping, onions fried in Punk IPA and a BBQ reduction made from Paradox. If that wasn’t enough brewdog beer, the brewburger comes served with a bottle Bourbon Baby which has been created to complement the burger. The beer and burger combo, will be sold for a limited period in Brewdog bars around the country and Honest Burger restaurants in the south. ~ 05 Mar 2014
