Carlsberg is to reduce the alcohol content of Tuborg lager from 4.6% ABV to 4% ABV. They say the taste will not be affected. Draught Stella Artois, Becks, and Carlsberg Export have all recently moved from being 5% ABV to 4.5% ABV. Call us cynical, but we reckon the move has been brought about probably as a way of offsetting duty costs and not, as the marketing blurb says, to make it "more accessible" to drinkers

In a bid to boost sales this summer, Diageo has launched its first ever Pimm’s Special Edition. The new variant is a blend of Pimm’s No.6 vodka cup, blended with the British flavours of blackberry and elderflower. Not only will this be a new flavour of Pimm’s, but also a new look for the brand, with British designer Oliver McAinsh commissioned to design the label

We suggest Spinningfields be renamed 'LVfields' after Living Ventures confirmed their seventh establishment in the area. Not content with having just The Alchemist, Australasia, The Oast House, The Artisan, Manchester House and the short-lived Peppermint Bay (not to mention the Olive and Grill On The Alley just across the road), the Knutsford-based operator are to open the pop-up Earth Bar on the landscaped green lawns of Hardman Square outside The Alchemist
