Following the news that Deansgate restaurant Kai closed down shortly before Lockdown, the well loved family-ran Spanish tapas restaurant and deli, Lunya, located opposite, have also followed suit.
Peter and Elaine Kinsella, who owned the Catalan restaurant, said the impact of the lockdown had devastated their business and they had no choice but to shut the Manchester branch to protect their two original Liverpool outlets.
Established in Liverpool in 2010, Lunya's 200-capacity Barton Arcade site, which opened in 2015, was their most expensive outlet to run, and the couple were unable to secure additional funding and support from the landlord, the government or their bank. Closing it gives them the best chance of saving the rest of the business.

They will be sadly missed and we can only hope they sail safely through the choppy waters of the next few months from their location at the other end of the East Lancs Road.
