We bring the sad news that Manchester's most famous dog, Bruce Blackdog, the iconic Patterdale Terrier who gave the name to Black Dog Ballroom and Dog Bowl, has passed away, due to a heart tumour.
Owner Jobe Ferguson, who kept Bruce after selling the Black Dog bars to the operators of the neighbouring NQ64in 2018, broke the news on social media:
"He was more than just a dog. He lit up our lives and was the ultimate wing man. So many of you knew and loved him and he loved so many of you. Sorry to have to give you this news. He went to sleep peacefully cuddled and kissed."
Anybody who met Bruce at anytime from him being Manchester's most photographed puppy, right until his grey whiskered old age, will know that he was a placid character, and the city's most popular bar fly. He will be sorely missed.
