Popular Gay Village girls bar Vanillahas changed hands, with the keys now in the hands of the family behind Canal Street gay club and drag show lounge, On Bar, who are expanding their non-London portfolio even further.
The much-loved Steph Kay, who, on the 8th December 1998, took over Dotz, a small piano bar on Sackville Street, to set up what was to become a Manchester institution and the UK's leading lesbian bar, has stepped down as Managing Director.

She can proudly claim to have welcomed nearly one million women (and their male friends) through Vanilla's doors since it opened 30 years ago. She now plans to enjoy her retirement with wife Mel Kay, safe in the knowledge that the bar is in good hands, with long time General Manager Steph Little taking control.
Amongst other changes, there are plans to introduce a new roof terrace to the venue, which is to remain gay owned and a place for women, managed by women.
As the famous tagline says, it's "where the girls are!"
